Mark & Daniel
WEDDING DAY: Wine Country meets Hollywood… Food and wine was an essential component of the wedding for local Sonoma winemaker Mark…Daniel's love of performances made it all about the show. In the end it was truly about their long-term commitment and finally having the opportunity to become united in marriage, legally.
Daniel was looking for Red Carpet, wanting guests to feel like they had arrived at the Oscars. Merging glamour with Gay Pride Colors and the farm/loft space of the property gave us the opportunity to be playful, all with hidden surprises along the way.
The Ceremony was held in the Apple Orchard, with sweeping hills and vineyards as the backdrop we kept the look natural, saving the Glitz for later. We commissioned a local artisan to build a large hand-hewed wooden cross that was installed at the altar. Natural wood chairs featured seat cushions placed in rows that created the Pride Rainbow. We included hand paper fans in coordinated colors with a rainbow ribbon tie. Guests celebrated the couple by tossing a petal
mixture, rainbow colored of course, at the end of the ceremony.
Guests strolled from the Ceremony to the Cocktail Lounge, where we fashioned a retro, hip vibe in cool colors of ivory and shades of blue. Glass containers ranging from clear to blue gave a cooling effect to the warm mid-summer day. Later in the evening the lounge evolved into the late night bar, where endless candlelight created a dramatic glowing effect.
What was in store next was where the real party started…once seated for dinner the Drag Queen Show began! Each course throughout the meal was punctuated with a performance by the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Tina Turner and Liza Minnelli. Oh what a show it was. The Dance Club opened after dinner with a 16-piece band including dancers, full percussion, and horn sections. While dancing the night away, the guests cooled off, grabbed drinks, and noshed on Mexican Street Tacos at the outside bar and lounge. It was one awesome Napa Valley Celebration!
